OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ODNR-DOW

The Friends of Magee Marsh work closely with the Division of Wildlife supporting projects within the wildlife area and visitor center. The FOMM, as we call ourselves, is an independant "friends" group that operates within the rules and guidelines of the DOW. We operate a popular but small gift shop inside the Visitor Center and also accept donations. Funds raised are directed back into the wildlife area to support our mission. Recent projects include: native tree plantings; selective invasives control; trail restoration; a shelter house/picnic area to be completed in 2026; the Warbler display on the deck at the west entrance of the boardwalk.

WILDLIFE AREA

The Wildlife Area is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Exceptions to this are between mid-October and early December when the road past the Visitor Center parking lot is closed periodically for controlled hunts. This includes access to the Magee Marsh Boardwalk. Closures and hunts are as determined by the Division of Wildlife and will be posted on wildohio.com at the top of the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area page.
