Volunteer Opportunities at Magee Marsh Wildlife Area

Store Volunteers

Do you enjoy nature, wildlife, and helping people of all ages?

Store volunteer serving customers

Volunteering at our Migratory Bird Center store in the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area may be a perfect opportunity for you!

In March, we have a volunteer training session where our new volunteers are trained in aspects of operating the store and exprienced volunteers can get a refresher before we hit our busy season about mid April through June.

Our store volunteers are the life blood of our fund raising.

Garlic Mustard Pulls

Our volunteers lead by Dottie McDowell get out with their gardening gloves for two - three hours on four occasions in late April to mid May and do a marvelous job keeping this invasive species in check around the boardwalk.

Many a birder has complimented us by expressing their appreciation for the work we do.

Beach Clean-ups

Two sessions are held each year. The first in spring and the second in fall. We need volunteers to spend a couple hours on the wildlife beach picking up trash that has washed up from Lake Erie. These sessions are followed with a pizza lunch and refreshments provided by the friends.

We LOVE our volunteers

To show our appreciation to our volunteers, we have an indoor picnic lunch in summer. In November at our Annual General Meeting, we have a pot luck dinner and again recognise our wonderful, hard working volunteers.
                                                        Thank you.
